About Grace
I started teaching with the Hikmah Foundation because I wanted to help people. As someone who really struggled with school in my first few years to being in advanced classes now, I know how important having a little extra help and support can be. I can't imagine how hard it would be to be a refugee in a new country, hence I wanted to give the students I was helping the chance to enrich themselves even further and have a judgment-free space to ask questions and grow. I would say my favorite part of this experience is the one-on-one connections you build. For me, there is no better feeling than getting to play a game with the kids and watch as they have a ton of fun and learn something in the process! I would encourage others to join because of how the experience of teaching benefits everyone- student and tutor. You get to help students grow in themselves, their knowledge, and their new experiences while also getting to feel like you are truly making a difference, and who knows you might learn something too!
