About Madison
My name is Maddie Statler and I have recently joined the Hikmah Foundation. Growing up as a kid, I have always been lucky to have the opportunities and resources to excel at various subjects and to take more advanced pathways in STEM-related courses, all of which have helped shape me into the person that I am today. I really think it is important that everyone has the chance to receive a well-rounded education. For me, teaching and tutoring always give me pleasure, as I started up my own piano business teaching children in 2021. Watching my students being able to play beautiful pieces on the piano as a result of my mentoring makes me happy, similar to how helping tutor refugee children that are a part of the Hikmah Foundation has given me great joy as well. There is nothing that comes close to the feeling of knowing that you used your musical abilities or academic knowledge to make a positive difference in someone else’s life. Regardless of background or circumstances, every person deserves the opportunity to live a happy and successful life, starting with a strong educational foundation. Even though I am one of the newest members of the Hikmah Foundation, I have made many new friendships both with the amazing refugee children that I tutor in reading and math, along with my incredible peers who also help volunteer. Every time I have tutored for the Hikmah Foundation, the children always greet me with a contagious smile and an eagerness to learn. Each session is always a fun time for everyone and I can not wait for future lessons!
