Growing up, I never thought much about the refugee crisis because it was not something I saw in my daily life. That changed when Zoya, and Humza reached out to me. Through the foundation, I learned about the struggles refugees face, from language barriers to education gaps to the challenge of starting over in a new place. Seeing kids my age and younger go through so much opened my eyes and made me realize how unfair their situation was.
I knew I could not just ignore it. Even as a student, I wanted to make a difference. I took the initiative to start the New Jersey chapter of the foundation, creating programs that support refugee families and help them adjust to their new lives. Whether it is tutoring kids, organizing resources, or simply being there for those who need support, I have seen how small efforts can make a big impact. This experience has given me a purpose and a responsibility to stand with those who have been displaced and help them rebuild their lives.
